Marriage Certificate Application
Completion of form BI-130 form in full is required.
The following fees are applicable:
- Marriage certificate: 8.00 AUD for each certificate
Return Postage:
- For applications originating from within Australia - a Self-addressed Express or Registered Post Envelope (only one envelope per family) OR a Postal Money Order or Bank Cheque made payable to the South African High Commission.
- For applications originating from outside Australia a Bank Draft for the
amount of
10.00 AUD made payable to the South African High Commission. (Fee covers
whole family / group)
Personal cheques or credit cards are NOT accepted.

Please note that the south african authorities will only process those applications completed in full detail.
A copy of any previous certificate issued should be included to speed the location of the record.
Unfortunately the tracing of original records in the register held by the department of home affairs in Pretoria is a time consuming task with the result applications are likely to take six (6) to nine (9) months. Due to the nature of these applications, we do not accept telephone inquiries on the progress of the applications. If a request must be made, please put this in writing not before at least six months after the application has been referred and the mission will refer it to the appropiate section at the Department of Home Affairs in Pretoria.
Marriage records date back only to the year 1901.
