Voting Stations Outside Of The Republic Of South Africa In The Upcoming 2024 ElectionsKindly note that the Electoral Act limits voting stations outside the Republic of South Africa to Embassies, High Commission, and Consulates. There is no provision empowering the IEC or the Department of International Relations and Cooperation to establish voting stations beyond missions. Therefore, all eligible voters in Australia will cast their votes in person at the South African High Commission in Canberra. To be eligible to vote you will need to be a South African National, 18 years or older and have registered for voting with the IEC. On the day of voting, you will be required to produce your valid South African passport as well as your South African green barcoded ID book or smart card. In addition to serving as South Africa's resident diplomatic mission to Australia, the Head of Mission in Canberra is now accredited on a non-resident basis to the following countries: Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, the Marshall Islands and Micronesia. Apart from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, the departments of Trade and Industry and Home Affairs are also represented at the Mission. Honorary Consuls are situated in Melbourne and Perth.
