Retired Person Permit (working)
In terms of the Immigration Act 2002 (Act 13 of 2002) a Permit may be issued to a foreigner who intends retiring and work in South African.
Please note: Provisional airline bookings may be made for the proposed departure date; however, the Mission advises that payments should not be made in the event of an unsuccessful application.
The following documentation is required and criteria apply:
- Application form - Form BI-1738
- Valid passport(s). Passport must be valid for at least one (1) month after the intended date of departure from the Republic of South Africa and have two (2) completely blank pages
- One (1) passport size photograph for each applicant
- Vaccination certificate if traveled through the yellow fever belt of Africa or South America(if applicable)
- Police Clearance Certificate(s) in respect of all applicants eighteen (18) years and older in respect of all countries where applicant(s) resided for one (1) year or longer
- Medical and radiological reports. Radiology reports not necessary for pregnant women and children 12 years and below
- Proof that a South African citizen or resident is not ready, willing and able to take up the relevant employment
- 8) Proof of financial means in the form of:
- a pension with a minimum value of 20,000 ZAR per month or an irrevocable
retirement annuity or retirement account to the equivalent amount, or
- a net worth no less than 12,000,000 ZAR providing an income of at least
15,000 ZAR per month
- Applicants must be in possession of a return or onward ticket or lodge a cash deposit of equivalent value to such a ticket
- Application Fee: 85.00 AUD
Return Postage:
- For applications originating from within Australia - a Self-addressed Express
or Registered Post Envelope (only one envelope per family).
- For applications originating from outside Australia - the applicant
will be responsible to arrange for a courier to collect the application after finalization.
Processing time is ten (10) working days from receipt of application if application is complete.
Incomplete or outstanding documentation will delay your application.
